The teen groping suspect we told you about last week has been identified (not David Crosby), and arrested by Montclair PD. He must really like to shop at CVS, because after police released a surveillance photo from the store – two days later, he went back! From Lt. Carlucci:
On October 5, an alert citizen noticed a man on Valley Road, by the CVS, who matched the description of a suspect wanted for assaulting a teenager on September 28, and called Montclair Police.
Police officers detained the person and obtained his identification. Detectives followed up the lead, and after both the victim and witness identified him, James Sagurton, a 54-year-old. resident of Mendham, was charged with one count of sexual contact.
Detectives arrested Sagurton at his home last evening. He is being held at Montclair jail, and bail has been set at $50,000 bond /$5,000 cash. “This case, although unfortunate that it occurred, shows the importance of citizen involvement and enabled police to remove an offender from the community,” says Carlucci.
We’d like to think that the “alert citizen” was a “citizen journalist” who saw the guy’s photo on Baristanet, but so far, police can not confirm…

This article appeared on the Internet. I understand that there is currently a dispute about this article and that James Sagurton is threatening to sue an individual. There are two problems with this course of action.

First, Sagurton cannot sue the individual, who spoke of the article and possibly distributed the article.

Second, after having attended law school Sagurton surely knows that the statute of limitations on a lawsuit, alleging defamation, has tolled.
